THE FEBRUARY CALENDAR IS HERE!!!

Aside from all the great continuing classes (including Anatomy & Massage Technique, Reading for Radicals, Human Sexuality, Knitting, Intro to Harm Reduction, The World in Knots, Modern UFOlogy, and Contemporary Feminist Literature), we have some really HOT new classes...

Don't forget that some classes require pre-registration! Usually this means simply contacting the teacher(s) beforehand to let them know you are coming. Check the calendar for contact details. These classes include:

NOTE: "Job Search: Resume Building & Mastering the Interview" and "Microsoft Publisher 2010: Levels 1 & 2" both have waiting lists! These classes (which are held at the Main Library) seem to fill up fast, so for future reference, go the Louisiana Jobs & Career Center (Orleans Parish) webpage to find out about classes like these.

Educational Opportunity added last minute!

On Saturday 1/28, the Share to Read Book Club will be meeting at the NOPL Main Library (219 Loyola Ave) in the African American Resource Center. This month's title is "Perseverance" by Margaret J. A few updates....

Resurrection After Exoneration's computer classes: On the calendar, we have classes listed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:30 and 6-7:30. Apparently, these are intermediate classes. Beginning classes occur on Mondays and Wednesdays. Call Chris at (504)302-1940 to find out more information and to register.


The Anatomy and Massage Technique class was not included on the calendar, but it is happening! Thursdays starting 1/12 from 7:30-9:30 @ 1265 Esplanade. Contact Asher at (504)495-4606 for more information and to sign up beforehand.


Freret Neighborhood Center (FNC): Free yoga classes for people living in the Freret neighborhood on Mondays at 7:45 PM. The Resource Center open hours at the FNC are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM. The Resource Center will re-open on 1/17. Anyone is welcome to come in and use the computers. Computer classes are one-on-one or small group tutoring. Walk-ins are welcome if you are working on a project - a resume, a job search, setting up an email account, etc. They can also arrange for someone to have a weekly class with a volunteer tutor to gain computer skills, ranging from complete novice to mid-level user. On Wednesdays, people are informally meeting up in Washington Square Park in the Marigny (between Frenchman and Elysian Fields, and between Royal and Dauphine) at 4 PM to learn and speak Spanish.


Divine NOLA yoga studio (located at 1223 Baronne) has several free classes:

Everyone is welcome for this free program of breathing, meditating and stretching lead by Certified Kundalini Yoga instructorsA great way to start every day 7 days a week.

5:00 PM Kundalini meditation
This is a continuous 62 minute meditationAnyone is welcome to come for the whole thing or come in at any point and leave at your leisure and it's free.
