A COMMUNITY SINGS WITH MICHAELA HARRISON
March 27, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
Ashé Cultural Arts Center
1712 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard
Free and Open to the Public

Michaela at Holiday on Blvd 12-12-10This month's theme will be WOMEN, in celebration of women's history month.  In addition to the singing, special guest Nana Anoa Nantambu will lead the group with chants relative to the topic.  Don't forget there are many health benefits of singing. With proper breathing, which gets more oxygen into the blood, the releasing of endorphins can have a similar effect as aerobic exercise. Studies have shown that singing relieves tension and lowers levels of stress, creating a feeling of relaxation. It promotes social interaction, and more. When you concentrate on singing, or on learning a new song, your brain power kicks in, memory is strengthened, and you really don't have time to "worry." So tune up your voice, call a few friends to join you, and come out and sing. No singing experience needed. For more information, call (504) 569-9070.

COMMUNITY BICYCLE WORKSHOP

Mon Mar 26, 5-9p
Get back on the Saddle!

Dust off that old bike, or walk up to see how you can incorporate bicycle riding into your everyday life. Through hands-on activities, we’ll answer the questions: “How can I ride most safely in New Orleans?” and “What is the right bike for me?” All are welcome, especially adults and their families (children, grandparents and friends). Through hands-on activities we’ll help build your confidence to integrate bicycling into your everyday tasks. More bicycling will make you feel healthier, more connected to your community and relieve stress.
