A few schedule changes and additions.....
The computer workshop "Finding Lost Friends and Family Online" has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, March 28, 1 pm at the Freret Neighborhood Center. We got rained out!! Here's hoping for weather WITHOUT a tornado watch in effect next week. The workshop is free, and no computer experience is required. Call Leah at (504) 373-6403 if you have any questions. *The New Orleans Lyceum has just announced a special presentation entitled "My Experience with a Ten-Day Silent Vipassana Meditation Retreat". The presentation will take place this Thursday 3/22 at 7:00pm at 1412 Euterpe St. Tea and goodies will be provided. See our calendar/class description pages for details.
*Also, we want to draw special attention to this Friday's Philosophy Cafe at 1412 Euterpe St (7:30pm), as the subject will be EDUCATION! Topic questions include: What is education? What is being an "educated person" today mean? Have values changed around education? Are there core values which should be bedrock? Is there such a thing as a canon of civilization that should be the subject of all education?
*On Wednesday 3/21 at 1:00pm, the Resource Center at the Freret Neighborhood Center (4605 Freret) is hosting a hands-on computer workshop about ways to find friends and family using the Internet. No computer is necessary.
*On Sunday 3/25, international Renku master Tadashi Kondo will be teaching a workshop on the Japanese art of linked verse from 1-4:45 pm at the NOPL Latter Branch at 5120 St. Charles Ave.
*SOME KID-FRIENDLY CLASSES!
- On Saturday 3/24 from 10:30am-1:30pm at the NOPL Children's Resource Center (913 Napoleon Ave), the GNO Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience is sponsoring activities on your sensational brain as part of Brain Awareness Week. Ideal for ages 5-12.
- Every Saturday from 3/24 to 4/14 from 2-3pm at the NOPL Children's Resource Center (913 Napoleon Ave), kids ages 4-7 (with adult accompaniment) can come learn basic Spanish vocabulary with native Spanish-speaking teachers. Children will learn through videos, puppets, songs, and craft activities.
